The School of Communication at the University of Miami has developed an immersive game using Samsung Gear VR in which players transform into different species that use echolocation as their main mechanism to locate and identify nearby objects for navigation and foraging. This is a whimsical, experiential, simulation-based game where players step into the flippers or wings of these baby species who are learning how to make sounds and use echolocation to determine the direction of their food source. Once they master gazing and listening to find food, players advance into avoiding threats.
